Do Something

The world can be a scary place. In this age of social media, the awful things practically smack us in the face, whether we want to see them or not. There’s pain, there’s heartache, there’s grief. And you often hear people asking questions like:

“Whatever happened to kindness?”

“What happened to caring for others?”

“Why doesn’t anyone DO anything about this?”

But you see, that’s the thing: people do still care. They care a lot. There are some amazing, wonderful people in this world who are doing equally amazing and wonderful things. These people often get overshadowed by the bad ones, which is a shame.

But there’s more. When you ask these questions, there’s another one you should be asking yourself:

“Why not me?”

Last week, I blogged about having purpose. And no matter who you are, I truly believe that one purpose of this life is to help others. To have each other’s backs.

We shouldn’t wait for change. We should be the change. The little things we do add up to big things. So, I’m presenting you with a challenge. A challenge to Do Something.

For the month of June, I’ll present a weekly challenge for you guys, both here and on Twitter. The post will go up each Monday, and I’ll also give a shout-out on Twitter with the hashtag #DoSomething. I would LOVE for you guys to join in. The more people who participate, the more people we reach.

That’s what life’s about. Reaching out to others. Being a helping hand. Because I think we all need someone to have our backs. And I think we each need to be that person for someone else.

The world can be scary. It’s also full of wonder and love and hope. Let’s focus on the latter.

So, the big question: Are you in? Leave a comment below, or catch me on Twitter @MichelleA_Smith

Oh my gosh . . . I LOVE this idea sooo much! YES Please!!! It’s easy to watch the news with things like the Santa Barbara shootings and wonder where the good is in this world. It’s a shame that the good does get buried under all the bad.
